Announcing the Friends of Hammer and Sky Fellowship. If you donate to a Fellowship, when we reach $2,000 raised, we will contribute $500 and award a $2,500 Fellowship to a deserving artist.
The fellowship amount is awarded to the selected resident artist in the form of $1,000 to be used at the artist’s discretion (payable upon completion of the residency) and up to $1,500 that can be applied towards residency fees.

Q. How do I apply for a Fellowship?
A. You must submit a paragraph (approximately 250 words) with their application that describes why you should be awarded a Fellowship.
Q. Is there currently a Fellowship available?
A. Yes, the Friends of Hammer and Sky Fellowship is available, thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous source.
Q. How do I sponsor a Fellowship?
A. You can sponsor a fellowship by sending your donation by Interac or Paypal to hammernsky@gmail.com and write FELLOWSHIP in the subject line. We will acknowledge receipt of your sponsor donation and notify you as soon as a fellowship has been created.
Q. When is a fellowship created?
A. Your donation is added to a pool of Fellowship funds and when the total of these funds reaches $2,000, Hammer and Sky contributes $500. Once we have reached $2,000 we contribute $500 and start a Fellowship.
Q. what happens to my sponsor donation if you do not raise enough for a fellowship?
A. if we cannot raise enough sponsor donations to create a fellowship, we will return your sponsor donation to you.
Q. If I sponsor a fellowship this year, will it be awarded in the same year?
A. It depends when the Fellowship is created. Hammer and Sky will award Fellowships until June 30 of the current year. All Fellowships created after June 30 will be awarded in the following year.
Q. Is there a limit to how much I can sponsor?
A. No, you can donate as little as $100 or as much as you want.
Q. How does Hammer and Sky award a Fellowship?
A. Hammer and Sky looks at all applications for a fellowship in the year ending May 30 and chooses a winner. The winner is chosen based on merit and suitability.
Q. Is there a selection committee?
A. Yes. The selection committee will be composed of directors of Hammer and Sky and major sponsors.
Q. If I donate, will I get a charitable donation receipt?
A. No. Hammer and Sky does not have charitable status, it is a registered non-profit (10699918 Association Canada, operating as Hammer and Sky) but cannot issue tax receipts.
Q. I am not a Canadian, can I sponsor a fellowship?
A. Yes, Hammer and Sky will create a Fellowship when $2,000 is reached, regardless of its origin.
Q. Will I be recognized as a fellowship sponsor?
A. Yes. If you want, you can be listed as a sponsor to a fellowship or you can choose to be anonymous.
